Optus Corporate Range - International Group Protection Scheme

The Optus Group Protection Policy has been designed for employers who wish to provide their expatriate employees with international life cover / life insurance as an additional occupational benefit.  Policies can be set up on one of two bases - 'Death by Natural Causes Only' or 'Any Cause of Death'.  If the latter variant is chosen, optional additional benefits such as Accidental Death Benefit can be included. Policies are annually renewable.

Features

 Benefits

Flexible Benefit Levels

The employer determines the amount of benefit required for members within a defined group. This can be either:

  • A multiple of the member's salary (between one and five times), or
  • A fixed percentage of the member's annual salary, or
  • A fixed amount

The maximum benefit is limited to five times the member's annual salary.

Low minimum membership

Minimum policy membership of just five members per benefit group - no maximum

Benefit Groups

Employers can set up a policy with two benefit groups - for example an executive group paying a death benefit equal to a multiple of four times salary and a general group paying a multiple of three times salary.
Choice of Currency Policies can be denominated in UAE dirham, US dollar, euro, or sterling

Accidental Death Benefit

If this benefit is included, an additional multiple or percentage of salary - up to two times the member's annual salary - on top of the basic group life level of benefit will be payable. The cover is subject to the same terms as the death benefit with which it is combined. For further information, please refer to the product guide.

Permanent and Total Disability Benefit

If this benefit is included and the member becomes totally and  permanently disabled, an amount equal to the death benefit will be paid as a lump sum.  For further information, please refer to the product guide.

Free Cover Limit

This refers to the amount of benefit that FPIL is able to provide for a particular policy without the members being subject to individual underwriting. It is normally available to policies with ten or more members.  The Free Cover Limit will vary on a policy-by-policy basis, and will apply to all members under 65. Members with benefit levels above the Free Cover Limit - and all members aged over 65 - will be subject to underwriting.

Repatriation benefit

Repatriation Benefit is automatically included to cover the cost of the preparation and transportation of a body for burial or cremation. The maximum Repatriation Benefit is USD5,000 and this will be added to the total Death Benefit payable.
